How to Enable or Disable Automatic Log Backup in SAP HANA

Task:

How to Enable or Disable Automatic Log Backup in SAP HANA

Solution:

By default SAP HANA creates redo log backups. You can enable or disable from HANA studio.

There are two ways to disable or enable Automatic Log backup.

a. from Backup console

b. from Configuration tab in HANA studio.

  1. Backup Console
    1. go to HANA STUDIOlog backup
    2. Double click on log2
    3. You will see below screen log3
    4. Click on “Configuration”  log4
    5. You will see below screen log5
    6. You will have to check or uncheck “Enable Automatic Log Backup” option to enable or disable Automatic Log backup.
    7. log6Now we see other way to enable or disable automatic Log backup.
  2. From configuration tab in HANA studio.
    1. Go to HANA studio log backup
    2. Double click on HANA server SID. log7
    3. You will see below screenlog8
    4. Click on “Configuration” tab configuration
    5. You will see below screenlog9
    6. Type “enable_auto_log_backup” in Filter Filed log10
    7. You will see below screenlog11
    8. Double click on “enable_auto_log_backup” in the above screen. You will see below screen. log12
    9. Now you need to specify Yes or NO to enable or disable automatic log backup.log13
    10. And click on “SAVE” to save the option.

 

SAP HANA DB restart is not required. Changes takes effect immediately.
